About Me

My work arises within the intersection of art, pedagogy and collaboration. Both my professional and academic roles are grounded in exploring alternative forms of knowledge in this critical space.

Artist Statement

My painting practice builds layered, iterative, and contemplative environments as a means of critiquing identity. This is enacted through the lens of transnationalism. In navigating the materiality of oil, I builds a relation to space, a detachment to form, and an insistent loyalty to the temporal particularities of the making moment. “Looking” as a pedagogical process here attends to the diffractive qualities of these spatial relationships: diffractions in a temporal navigation pick up on patterns of recurrence, reproduction, continuations, ruptures, and catalysts that inform the work, and learning through this as a visual practice maps interferences and pins down the ways in which ideas and “effects of difference appear” (Haraway 2004; 70). Through these diffractions, this practice attends to the nature of temporal placemaking beyond, through, and across the nation-state. In these observations, the distinction between representation and encounter is a playful site for creative momentum. This juxtapositional process holds a visual space for unfolding, emergent, and lively reconciliations of ontological discontinuities.
